Pull all rubber and plastic out of the carb. Let the solution just simmer boil for an hour. Really works on the older stubborn ones like the pulsa-jets and such.

Most ultra sonics don't get hot enough in my opinion. Most just get up to temp as the cleaning cycle comes to the end.

Which would a good reason not to do 2 cycle cubes as they have non removable rubber check valves.

OK HOLD THE PHONE!!!:D:) i just want to thank all of the great small engine techs and repair shops for all the info.!! being a 45+ yr retired auto mechanic, i can fully appreciate the influx of knowledge that can be had here just for the asking! as we all know, automobile engines are like small engines, as crackers are to ice cream!! thanks again for the support!!! my dad always said ( an old army mechanic) "There is no such thing as a stupid question" !!!

If you truly don't know answer and need an answer then no question is stupid even though the one being asked think so. My brother is a great example that think some questions are stupid just he knows the answer.

Sometimes just asking about things helps. I remember working a particular difficult calculator repair. I was about to give up for the day when the office work came over and asked what's that? Well it was exactly what I was looking for 20 minutes, just took someone to refocus my attention.

It was mention here on this site a while back that they used a product called Awesome All Purpose Cleaner in their UC but I have yet to try it myself.

OK, enough!! 3rd time with this Tecumseh 9hp carb is too much. still will not run right, surging... cant adjust it out under load or low speed, checked needle and seat with vacuum pump after reassembly... held vacuum for as long as i left it.new carb abd intake gaskets so i am assuming no air leaks, i have another carb off an 8hp blower ,, think ill clean that one up and give it a try. if jet sizes are smaller, i do have jet drills and a pin vise, will compare them before i do anything out in left field . this is the wrong forum, but its a NOMA snowblower, 9/27.

Most people pressure test the needle/seat. Would hope it held with vacuum. Pressure test at 7psi for 30+ minutes for a successful confirmation.

Also when doing this test, needle needs to be wet. As in spray some PB mega spray on it then test.

Apply the choke slowly. See if she smooths out near full choke.

Would do a full fuel delivery clean/refresh. Super clean the tank. New fuel line all the way to the carb. Make sure you have a solid flow AT the carb inlet. Drain the fuel into a glass jar looking for water or trash. Bet you have water in the gas.

Do you have an old open top fuel can spout? Letting water, humidity, leaves, bugs, dirt dobbers, grass, did I say water? Can sit outside in the weather?

Maybe a new style semi-sealed spout with O-rings, pain in the butt style to fill with? Hope it's this one.

Look in the bottom of your fuel can. Get some good light and readers on. Bet it's loaded with trash. If so, every fill up you pass trash to this carb in question.

Dirty fuel cans are massively overlooked.

Do as slomo indicates by adding choke little bit at a time

AND

Also hold the governor arm steady or hold the carb throttle butterfly steady manually so as the governor is not involved and see if the carb is rough and if so see if it's rough at both idle, middle and higher rpms.

Is that the old style Tecumseh carb that has both low rpm and High rpm adjustable jets or the newer non adjustable jet type?
I've wrestled with them surging and hunting Tecumseh's and can usually stabilize them. I finally got to where Tecumseh engines and I became friends, but not so at the beginning when we were strangers.

Give us a report back?
