command carburetor kits, cost friendly alternatives?

Anyone have experience using the aftermarket kits and could make recommendations? I have a 2000 Command 22HP twin that I bought that has been sitting a long while. model:CV22S spec 75517 serial number begins with 33 (which I think means its a year 2000 engine).

First your spec comes back as a CV23 (22hp) and the serial number is a 10 digit then the year is 2003.

And those OEM kits are ridiculously priced. I don't see any after market kits out there either. The best price I found was the following.

24 757 46-S (eBay)
 
I would try to clean what you have first. Boil clean the carb once all small parts are removed.

Calling Bertsmobile1 - carb cleaning info

Wanted to openly ask Bert if this is his carb cleaning method? Guy says 200F and no hotter water temp. Can I follow this and be safe? Seems to work for this guy. What to put in the water far as soap or other cleaning agent? Guy says dish soap.

I don't know why kohler thinks their carbs and carb kits are so precious. Oh yeah, they can gouge for them because people will by them. They must be taking lessons from john deere.

Ah yeah, I meant starts with 30. The one I'm replacing is a 33. Weird that 75515 comes back as a CV23... Kohler tag attached. Yes those OEM kits are crazy expensive, so much so I'm tempted to just try it as-is.

You'd think the aftermarket could undercut and still make plenty of profit ! No such luck I guess.
 
My CV20S engine (20HP) carb works fine, I'm thinking just disconnect at the intake and take the whole setup onto the CV22S... but I'm wondering if the jets would be too small and cause a lean condition...

It is a volume & quality thing
Kohler use better quality carbs on the top end models
Better quality = higher price
Better quality = more reliable thus fewer repairs needed
Fewer repairs = less service parts needed
Less service parts = uneconomic to produce cheaper parts
Try getting parts for the Mikuni's fitted to Suzuki engines used on some Toros
