How do you set timing on 14 horse Briggs over head valve engine. I took it apart to check if there was any damage when stator broke. Thanks Joey!

Unless someone has changed all the technology, it is still done by aligning the key seat in the shaft with the key way in the flywheel and placing the flywheel on the shaft with the key inserted and aligned with both. Torque the nut to specs.
 
I think senior citizen has it right. Do tractor engines simply run at the static setting,TDC? Good question for dealers to answer.

I would think that the big question would be: What broke the stator?????

no I need the corect way to time crankshaft to cam .Can you get it out of time or do you put piston at top dead center on compession stroke like a car engine?Thanks!
 
Would have helped right from the start if you would have said you removed the crank or cam.
We can not read your mind or interpret half story's.
