Probably a little bit overkill for what your mowing. Unless you are looking for a "prosumer" model which is what Ferris considers it. This means it's mostly a very heavy duty residential/entry commercial. Maybe check out a Hustler Raptor SD for what your mowing.

I thought the ferris was a better mower? The suspension makes sense to me.

I have a 1/4 acre and its over kill but I also cut 5 other lawns a week with it. Wish I would have bought a higher grade. For what your looking to do it would be great. I wouldn't even look at the raptor super duty. If your gonna get a hustled get the fast track. The suspension doesn't do squat. It works and all but there is no smooth ride on the mower. I've hare it for a few months now and put 25 hours on it. Its durable. I will say that. Love the icd deck. Strips good in certain grasses.

Again it's all in what you want in a mower. I suggested a hustler raptor because we are taking about a half acre. I bought the IS600z for 2 acres and I thought it was overkill. How commercial do you wanna go? I paid 5500 OTD for my new kawasaki IS600z and could of got a Briggs for 5100 OTD. How much is your budget? How commercial do you wanna go? Yes the suspension works but doesn't beat a suspension seat. Of all the demo units I tested Ferris was the best machine for my yard. It had the best cut and ride.

5K is the top of my budget and it does seem overkill but I have been known to do crazier things plus the Ferris dealer is down the road from work and I drive by every day, they seem to be talking to me...

Well in that case see what deal you can get. I had a few dealers quote me and got them in a price war a bit. I had dealers quoting me 5500 before tax.

I am a big fan of ferris. The spring suspension on the is600 and is700 doesn't travel as far as the is2100, so it won't work quite as well, however, you can get the suspension assembly to go under the seat offered to make it ride better than any other mower in its class. It is over kill by a long shot, but if you can afford it and you want it I say go for it.
