Repairs Honda HR214SX Tranmission Issues

Honda HR214SX #2 high numbered serial number.

When engine is running rear wheels only turn when off the ground. When wheels are on the ground they wont turn and I hear clicking noise.

Also got this running after cleaning carb in ultrasonic cleaner for 2 480 second cycles. Mower wont stay running on low idle. Will stay running on choke/fast and hi idle.
 
Did you have the rear wheels off and take those ratchets out?

Turn the engine off. Engage the drive bar on the handle bar. Pull the mower backwards. The wheels should lock up and not roll. Let go of the drive bar. Roll the mower forward. You should hear the clicking of the ratchets.

There's a right and left to those ratchets and if they're reversed, they won't engage.

So far as cleaning the carb, follow the directions in the How to clean a Honda GX carb. Replace the gaskets with brand new ones. Don't bother putting the old gaskets back on, and be certain of their orientation. There's a correct way and a wrong way to put them on, and they'll go on easily either way.

Never had wheels off. PO said the transmission didnt work either. So I guess theres a chance a PO took the wheels off at sometime.
 
Those transmissions are pretty much bullet proof. Throw the mower in the back of your truck, drive it to Illinois. We'll get it working for you in an afternoon.
 
Then I'm guessing the air box must have been sitting right up against the engine shroud too.

Yes it is. But if I were to add those then I must be missing spacer for the bolt that helps support the air box. I mean the bolt under the air box going into the block.
 
It would probably flex enough and still get that bolt in.

Sounds like you need to print all the exploded parts diagrams and see what you do and don't have.

Yea I guess I do. I know more on the transmission in the morning.

The bolt just passes through that. It should be in your air box same as there should be two shorter ones, #8, that the carb bolts pass through. They're just there to strengthen the plastic air box holes and give the bolt and nuts something solid to tighten up against.
