I believe a five gallon bucket and a pair of gloves is the fastest way to gather walnuts. Just have a truck or loader close bye to empty the bucket into.

I have the apples also. They feed the deer. The snow will be coming in few week and all the nuts and apples will be gone with the snow next spring. Then a few more walnut tress will start growing in the woods next year. Black walnut logs are worth very good money and what is left over makes good fire wood. Any of the trees that start growing in the lawn just get mowed down.

You want to clean up walnuts every day or so. Just kick them to a spot. Rake them to a spot. Pick them up and toss them to a spot. Once enough of them are in the spot to suit you just take a dust pan and shovel them up and load them into a large plastic trash can. 99 out of a hundred Walnut or fruit trees here in town are never even looked at much less picked up.

I mowed a lawn with apples the other day.....most were destroyed by the time I saw done....either smashed by the tires or sliced in half by the blade! :licking:

It's a seed pod from a sweet gum tree, a tree we have in the south. The seed pod looks like a porcupine egg:laughing:

Hitting a sweet gum ball is like hitting a small rock. When they first fall from the tree.
I hate the damn things. Them and magnolia trees
