    Keeping moss off a roof

Any thoughts on the best way to keep moss from growing on a roof? Every year we go through this ritual of going up on the roof with the hose and a brush and we scrub it off. There's got to be an easier way!

Ever happen to you like that?

For about four years now, I've been brainstorming different ways to deal with landscaping around our deck area. The other day I had the dog out for a walk and a very simple and inexpensive solution just came to me! I wasn't even really thinking about it, it just "came" to me. Ever happen to...

    Clever alternative?

I recently saw edging for flower beds that has a place to screw in your hose. The edging is designed so that once the hose is attached and turned on, water gets misted onto your beds through the edging. Clever alternative to an expensive sprinkler system, don't you think?

    Retractable awning advice

I am in the process of doing my homework on retractable awnings. I have a bank of six 60 inch wide windows on the south side of my house that I want to install them over. I'm not interested in the electric ones, only the manual ones. Are there any brands you have experience with that you...

I don't want some wimpy thing

I'm going to be investing in a leaf blower to help with spring clean up this year. My old back can't take all of the raking like when I was younger. Do you think an electric one or a gas powered one is the way to go? I don't want some wimpy thing either. Any suggestions?

All excited about planning my flower beds

I was starting to get all excited about planning my flower beds, as we had temperatures around 50 the last couple of days. When I woke up this morning we had 3 inches of snow, which is now slush. Funny how the weather affects our moods and motivates or de-motivates us, isn't it?

You KNOW what will happen if.......

Just wondering if people are still battling snow? February can be a pretty dicey month for snow still. You haven't put the snow blower away just yet I hope. (You KNOW what will happen if you retire it for the season, don't you?)

    Pruning In Wnter

It's pretty mild in Arkansas all through early December. I usually prune my trees and shrubs in the fall but I didn't get to it this year because we were building a shed. Can you do your pruning in the winter or is it best to wait until spring?

    Yellow Greenery

My houseplants don't seem to do very well in the winter. They always seem to get a little yellow. I add fertilizer to the watering can, I water regularly but not too much, I think they get enough light. What could it be?

My grandson decided he wanted to make a bird house for each of aunts for Christmas. (He has six aunts.) He thought of this on his own---I was so impressed. He will be coming over to our house each weekend, and my husband is going to help him out. Just had to share this, as it's time to start...

    It's For The Birds

Some people say the birds need a little help with food in the winter, and that it's good to feed the birds with birdseed and what not. Others say that it is best for them to seek out naturally occuring food forms. Where do you weigh in on this?

I have a real old greenhouse that needs more repair than it's worth. Have been thinking about buying one of those temporary types that sets up like a tent. I kind of like the idea----I could tear down the old one and have another spot to plant and store the temp one when not in use. Are they...
