Re: MTD Yardman Transaxle Rebuild

I didn't know you were a BBQ nut, I gotta send a pic of MY lil WEBER "take-along, bought in 1990 , just cooked ribs on it last Fri. could use a new flame cover but still cooks great ! ...

Yes, and how to season a grill for first use. I buy a gallon jug of the cheapest BBQ sauce I can buy. I cover every part of the inside I can with it. Then light the thing on fire for a few hours. Now you can cook with it and everything comes out fantastic.

I am as baffled about the count as all of us. Wish I knew why a bunch of old guys talking was so interesting. And how to make money off it.
:smile::smile::smile:

I just can't for the life of me figure out if we REALLY, REALLY have that many guys/gals following this thread, ... how come there isn't any of them "chiming" in ..???? can anybody explain it ??

So why did ya move to Missisloppy..?

We just woke up one morning and decided it was time for a change......
Actually, as we have a son and his family on the west side of Atlanta, and our daughter and her family close to Galveston......
You can probably figure out the rest.

Ron! Is that a Weber Genesis grill hiding under that green cover? (I'm more of a BBQ hound than a lawnmower repairman.)

Rog

That is a Char Broil Masterflame 8000 gas grill, fitted with something called a Grillmate (no longer made.)
That is a flat-box shaped plate made of perf stainless on the bottom and perf platinum alloy on the top.
That heats up really hot, causing juices to drip and make a lot of smoke but at the same time preventing flare-ups.
Cooks just about anything in 10 minutes, except my wife's steak, which takes about 5............

The grill has cast aluminum firebox and lid.I just keep replacing cooking grills, burners and igniters and it lives on.......and on.....abd in.......

Boo,

I got a Weber "Q", with a cracked top (It turned over one day) that I patched up with red, hi-temp silicone. Still grills good. Oh! I also "ported and relieved" the gas jet for a better O.A. flame.

I have found my Masterflame to be quite responsive to a double-angle valve grind..........

Holy crapoli!! A Char Broil Masterflame 8000!!! The back yard standard for Grills...

And fitted with something called a Grillmate to boot! I'm starting to drool....

However, it was just freezing here this morning and there were light snow showers along parts of the coast last night.. No more sitting out on the deck grilling venison steaks until next summer I guess.. Bugger..

Re: MTD Yardman Transaxle Rebuild

I've been searching for another 8000 as backup in case my casting ever fail.
Closest one I found was in Minnesota, and the seller wouldn't ship........
I purchased a 7000 in Atlanta for $20.00 which I am picking up this week end.
It is a tad smaller, but I could probably adapt the Grillmate if the need arises..........

Oh man!! A Masterflame 8000 with double angle ground valves!! Let's see with propane that's runnin', what? About a million degrees Celsius? Steaks in seconds.. Shoe leather in minutes..

I love this thread... And all you guys too....
