Re: MTD Yardman Transaxle Rebuild

I will look into LED's............Thanx!

Ron, you may want to check with your local CABLE TV provider to see if they suggest an underground conduit for their services, you may be able to drop in a separate ( oversized ) conduit, along with your electrical service, some area's are upgrading to fiber-optic cable for all sorts of communications but you'd have to check with the power company also, sometimes they refuse to share the trench , just something to consider if you're gonna have entertainment in your "man-cave", hope everything goes smoothly . ....

Sept. 30 Views estimate

OK.. The "EVFD" (Estimated Views For the Day) is 103,572.5.

Although some of you guys felt that 'viewage' was dropping off for various reasons, I must point out that for the last six days we have actually gained an average increase of 383 additional views per day! I tried to calculate what the overall effect of that would be if it continued apace, but realized that I wasn't taking something into account when the number topped 115K!! I've got to work on that some more..

This higher math is mind boggling!

Ron,

Boo is right! Although the phone companied often asked for a U/G conduit that was WAY larger than required for their tiny six or eight pair cable, it would still be worth is and I don't know what cable companies want for conduit.

In any event, especially if you go for a private service, bury the service cable in PVC conduit.. In fact ALWAYS bury wire in conduit, it is fool hardy not to! (It's sort of like trying to save money by buying an aftermarket water pump kit for your outboard! Not a good idea!) By the way ~ I bought and installed a Yamaha OEM pump kit yesterday! Works perfect!

TODAY 9/30/17

I don't want to hear any more bitching about cool weather from you guys down South! The nice, warm, Indian Summer weather you guys have been sending up here has suddenly quit! It's 47 degrees here this morning with a decent breeze blowing and I have to go out and haul lobster traps at 8:15 AM. I'm going to have to wear something extra under my Grundens today!

Eat Lobster! Wear Grundens! https://shop.grundens.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-aTg2eLM1gIVRySGCh1DJwafEAAYASAAEgI3MvD_BwE

I'm gettin' too damn old for this schitt!!

Doc,

A high ceilinged shop can still benefit from fluorescent lighting by using the newer T-5 lamps in troffers. More illumination, less watts, will come on at low temps and less expensive than LED's. Although LED prices are dropping all the time.

Roger
had them in my shop, worked well, but a pain when the ballasts would fail. Always had to put someone on the fork lift and raise them up for the repair. I have all LED in my house and my garage.......you can spot a flea on the back of a fly it's so bright in the garage

I think this is the only photo I have of the bug, or at least that I could find this morning...LOL

it's not the reason for the photo though, I was taking pictures of an engine that I have listed on farmtrader magazine

As part of the process the power company called 811 for the utilities to check for underground wires etc.
The 27' of proposed cable run is 250' or so from the street, and 130' from the back of my house.
Other than the overhead power line that I am looking to replace, the only other "utility" present is
a water line from my well. I have to expose it where the trench will cross in order for the power company
to avoid damaging it.

I also had to grant an easement for the power lines to go under ground that is the same patch that the lines now go over....

I am a long ways from cable, phone,LAN, etc, and, should I want these utilities,
they will enter on the opposite side of the building.
But, I appreciate the suggestions.
811 was called as part of the standard procedure.

As for the hassle, it really is not due to the power company. Rather, code enforcement is causing the most difficulty (read: bureaucratic red tape.)

in new jersey the law states all utilities must enter from the same point, most cases that is a challenge in itself........sorry you have to deal with all the set backs, free country......yeah, right!
