I've been asked to take a look at my friends three year old ride on mower. My friend states that he was mowing two days ago when the engine quit and let out some black smoke. The engine is a 20HP Briggs & Statton. My friend went on to state that when he turns the key the engine tries to start, but won't turn over. Note: The engine has never had a tune up, but I have been told oil was added as needed. Where to start?
