Currently using a JD F935 with 72" deck, and it takes me about 8 hours to mow my property. I have just under 14 acres, mostly open (includes 6 acres of turf runway for airplanes) and another 7 acres with a lot of mature oak trees on the lawn. I've been looking into large area commercial/golf course type mowers and don't know where to start. Looks like something like a Toro Groundsmaster 580d would be good, since with the wings folded I could do a pretty close job around the trees, while still having the width to blow through the runway and open areas quickly with the 16' cutting width. Looks like plenty available on the used market, although I'm sure most have seen hard commercial use. What should I look for in a large area mower? Any tips or recognized problem areas to watch out for? What about some other brands, since I'm sure there are other large area mowers besides the Toro's. I just don't know what I don't know, so any advice would be great.
