For Briggs push mower model # - Look on the metal plate above the muffler. Should be something like 126M02-XXXX-XX.

There is no plate above the muffler. Perhaps it's under a cover. Apparently it's more important to stick safety warnings on stuff, rather than giving useful information...

Anyway, it's worse now the engine's cold; if I prime it, then it will run for a few seconds then die.

I didn't post specific engine model/serial etc. because I thought this was a general problem, not specific to mine. I wouldn't expect anyone to know about my specific model!

I have to finish my lawn with a cordless battery mower, I will take the carb apart when I have time.
