Walker Mower Spark Issue

Walker mower will turn over but not start. As soon as you disconnect the white coil wire, it starts right up with no issue. What causes this?

Short circuit in the circuit caused by either a bare place touching ground or a bad safety switch.

Wouldn't it not turn over at all if a safety switch was bad?

It all depends on how the safeties are wired. Without the model of the equipment it is impossible to know it is wired. But it is likely a seat switch if it is a switch. Some will crank but not fire up if they are bad; others will not even crank.
