HELP!!!
I've always prided myself with being mechanically inclined. This one has me stumped. The height adjustment lever broke and I ordered a new one, which I received. I figured how tough could this be? I took off the wheel (easy). Removed the screw on the top of the cog (easy). Took off the cog (being careful about that pin), metal plate, plastic wheel plate (again, easy). Now the only thing holding up the replacement of the lever, is the round spur gear in front of it. Totally stumped here. The spur gear seems to be attached to the axle rod that turns the wheel, and there is nothing at all that looks like it is holding that spur gear in place. Do I have to take off the entire assembly parts that hold the handle to get the spur gear off? Any clues from anyone? Any and all help would be appreciated.

Spur gear is held on by a 1/4-20 screw and the support (which I think you are talking about) has a clip on the inside of the mower deck.
