Nothing still grinding
But what did you see ?
we know you heard a grinding sound but what did the starter motor actually do ?
Engage with the flywheel and ratchet back & forth ?
Jump up & down but never lock into the teeth ?

We can not helt you if you refuse to help us
We have nothing to go on but the words you type
And funny enough, in the 342 service manuals I have no where is there a fix for "starter grinding "

When troubleshooting any electrical device, what is the first test?

Is there power available? As in the wall outlet good and has power available? In your case the battery LOAD TESTED and proved good? You just load tested and found 7 volts DC. That is too low. If under LOAD, drops below 10.5 volts DC, either you need to charge or replace the battery.

Start from or with a known good. As is a strong fresh battery or say a solid 120 volt outlet. Progress forward with your testing.
