I'm a noob here, just stumbled across the forum.

Just picked up an old mini tiller off CL needs the carb cleaned/rebuilt as it only runs if you mist gas in the carb Few questions...

--has a Tecumseh 2-stroke on it, top of the motor says 24:1 oil mix. Do I really need it that oily or is that because yhe older oil wasn't as good?

--anything major to watch for on these?

I use 32:1 in my post hole digger, seems to like it. I am sure the newer oils lube better, but I would rather be on the safe side.

This can be quite a debate. Tecumseh was calling for 24 to one when they were still making that engine. So put 24 to one in it. All the ones I ever ran over the years that called for it got it and they ran a long time. I miss the Tecumseh two cycles. I always liked them.

I figured it may start quite a debate. Just picked up a carb kit for it and asked them. They said as long as its a synthetic or synthetic blend I could do 50:1 that seems awfully dry. I'd rather fowl plugs than burn up a motor :)
