Hey folks! I recently bought this tiller from the original owner and it's been sitting unused for several years. What I've found so far:

THE BAD

Oil level is low and black (like everything else I buy it seems)
Tine drive belt has chunks missing
Left tire leaks down
Tine engagement cable is missing some handlebar parts
Compression seems to be low by my hand to brain compression gauge

THE GOOD

Its all there except for the tine cable pieces
Tank is clean (surprise!)
Carb is pretty clean
Axle boots are good
Tine seals seem to be OK and have some slight seepage
Both the drive and tine cables move freely in the housings (after some light oiling)
Engine has good spark

I've already started the carb work and should be putting everything back together tonight along with some fresh oil. I doubt I'll have time for startup but we'll see. Belt replacement will happen after I get it running.

Getting there.

We got the carb reassembled last night and installed back onto the engine. The o-ring for the intake pipe was a bear! The o.d. was a bit too large make re-installation into the carb body impossible. After a bit of size reduction, I got it to fit with moderate pressure.

Time to gas 'er up and give it a rip tomorrow! It's all back together with fresh oil and I replaced the belt tonight; I was dreading the belt installation but it turned out to be super easy.

I still have some cleanup work to do on the tines and check the oil level in the chain cases before it meets dirt.
