It is a standard feature on most all forums. Nothing read on a web forum should be considered as gospel truth? I guess that should include your postings also. The thing is the number of posting an individual has represents the time, support and contributions a member has made to the forum. Who or what you are or your age has little to do with the number of post you have. With the examples you have given I'd say you were a pretty paranoid person and btw I know some 12 year old kids that have computer skills that would put 95% of us here to shame.

you have it down.

Might have missed the point there Ric.
No parranoia just we need to remember that we have no idea who is on the other end of the keyboard and what their motives are.
I don't care if the "person" who does a good search and come up with the correct solution is a 4 year old one armed monkey.
But anything here must be treated with a little care and that goes just as much for anything I post .

OTOH
A little caution is not a bad idea on the web.
And no I am not paranoid , If I was I would not be here. I am just careful.
You would never think of dragging random people off the street and showing them through your garage complete with an inventory about how much each item is worth.
Yet we will happily put photos on line with more than enough information in them to be an open invitation to the cyber criminals.
There are very computer literate folk who troll forums like this and sell potential targets to highly professional thieves.
The "dark net" is not only used for distributing porn and computer viruses.
If you came home from a vacation & found all your new gear gone you would instantly think about "local thieves" not some one 1000+ miles away or even in a differnt country, mining this site for potential targets to sell to highly professional thieves who can knock over your garage or house for that matter in the middle of the day in broad daylight with your neighbours all watching and thinking nothing more about it.

Lots of housebreakers drive removal or recovery vans.
Car thieves drive tow trucks, no one notices because nothing looks out of place.

Desperate junkies get caught , professionals get rich.

No paranoia????? LOL  Your Talking about cyber criminals, highly professional thieves, The "dark net" distributing porn and computer viruses, thieves mining this site for potential targets, but your not paranoid, NOT MUCH. The thing is like I said in my last post, the silver or bronze ranking or any ranking a member has represents the time, support and contributions a member has made to the forum and nothing more.

Of course it missed the point of your post.

I thought you had a well thought out post with good info
for people that may not have known.
Not all forum members are as web savy as it.

Bert, come on buddy.

Here are the rules of posting here.

Wait for a first time post.
Wait for it to post the answer first.
Spring into action by agreeing 100 % to what it says.
Never, never disagree with it.
Never have an original thought.
Never complain.
Never cause a ruckus.
Never be different.

Where did you get those rules? I sure hope that those rules are meant to be sarcastic? If not I will continue to break them when nessesary to help members given poor or unsafe replies.

Of course its sarcasm.
I asked the people at work to read this thread.
They all liked Bert's response.
None of them liked it's response.
They could not figure out why you even posted your response.
We deciphered your response, and agree with you in principle.

My new Sarcasm disclaimer.

Hey everyone.....Sarcasm Alert.

Hey everyone.....Sarcasm Alert.

For years the "younger generation" of our bike club have been at us "old farts" , one of whome is an internationally recognised cyber security expert to put the club on Farce Book.
Well one of them made an unofficial Farce Book page about 2 months ago.
Every person who signed up to it got hacked.
Those who were silly enough to store pin numbers undisguised in their phones also got other things, including one persons bank account hacked.

I am on 27 different web groups for one reason or another and I am yet to be hacked into.
Trusting people is good.
Trust is like love.
The more you give the more you get.
The more you give out the better you feel.
But you don't stand at the front gate and try to kiss every one who passes by.

However I am saving a big juicy kiss for Ric should I get over his way :licking:
