scotts- Murray model 22815x7A drive belt replacement problem.

I am trying to replace belt drive on Scotts model 22815x7a and have followed directions in manual to remove and it won't slide out. I took out all the pins and cotor pin or key and it still won't slide out. I know I have followed to the T. Does anyone have any suggestions or dealt with this before. Thanks for any help..
