putting carb back together.. which way does spring go?

was taking apart the carb and this spring fell loose. didn't get a look at it before it happened. does anybody know which way it goes?

Put the spring in the big hole in your second picture, with the cap facing you. Install the diaphragm on top of that and then install the cover.
