Go by manual & use OEM specified fluid only, that way you'll be covered. Synthetic oil is required, use it, components will run cooler & longer period of time between maintenance intervals.

Hydro/Transmission Oil Change Procedure Your machine will be fine, read operators manual thoroughly & use OEM specified parts only.

Appreciate it. Didn't realize it required synthetic. I actually just put in a couple ounces to bring the overflow tank back up to he cold line after the first mow. It wasn't much and it wasn't synthetic. Do you think a few ounces of conventional will hurt? The overflow had just enough for the bottom of the reservoir to be covered and I brought it back up to the cold fill line.

It does not 'require" synthetic fluid. It is recommended, but not required.
Any decent quality 20w-50 API fluid will work just fine.
