I have a 1980 Lawn Boy that has a problem I have never experienced before.
The first time I started it this spring, it ran, but very low RPM.
I don't use it much, only for cutting around my 15 blueberry bushes, but it's a 19 inch and you can't beat it.
The second time I went to start it, about a week later, I could not keep it running. It would start up ok and then start to die out.
It would not stay running even if I pumped the primer bulb.
Today I removed the carb. and took it apart. Everything looked good except for the main gasket where it bolts onto the machine.
The outside edge on each bolt hole seemed to be worn away.
My question is, would that be enough to cause the problem I am having?
I also bought new gas a couple of weeks ago at the start of the season. I am using the mid grade gas. Not sure of the octane rating.
I'm looking for suggestions what to try next. I'm stumped.
I'f anybody knows a good 2 cycle mechanic in New Hampshire I wouldn't mind bringing it in to be serviced.
