Thanks for letting me join. I tinker with old B & S powered domestic mowers. I am restoring an old Hayterette. I have fitted a good Quantum XM engine. I have seen this done before and there are some for sale currently on Ebay. My question is, as it does not have a dead mans handle, how do I turn the motor off. Is there a way of fitting a switch. Thank you.

Most of the older Briggs push mower engines had a shorting clip that was situated next to the throttle pivot that shorted the ignition module when the mower was moved from full to just past idle. Will look like an knife tip sticking up through the throttle control plate.

Thank you, mine has a brake that rubs on the rotor and connects to short out the coil. It can't do that without releasing the dead mans handle which I don't have. !
