I have had my 60" Great Dane ZTR W/25hp Kawasaki for several years. About the only complaint I have had is they put the oil drain valve on the left side, behind the battery. That engine has a tap for the drain on both sides, so I bought an oil drain line made for the Exmark W/25hp Kawasaki and installed it on the right side of the engine. It is Exmark Engine Hose Oil Drain ASM [W] , Part # 116-4924. It is a high pressure steel reinforced line made especially for the Kawasaki. It has a male thread and O ring to fit into the engine and a drain plug in the other end. Do not attempt to use anything else, such as pipe threads. Changing oil is a breeze now.

That part can be bought online here: http://www.partstree.com/parts/lc=exmark&mn=TTX24KAECA+S/N+920,000+&+Up&dn=51_03_0007

Yes, it was to me. Evidently you do not have a Great Dane w/25hp Kawasaki. Besides I just enjoy re-engineering things. I have made about 20 improvements on the mower which Great Dane should have done in the first place.......sun shade, lights, reserve tank, new height adjustment, oil pressure light, hitch, foot rest, easier removal of spindle covers, better method of belt tension, etc., etc.

I made a special wrench holder the remove and install the blades after the wrench slipped and I sliced my hand open. My neighbor sliced his hand open on his Hustler's blade. It required 15 stitches at the emergency room. He had me make a similar tool tool for him. Those two tools were worth it too.

Sounds like you have done a lot to your Great Dane. Can you post pics of all your improvements? It may spawn other members to do the same to there mower. I would like to see the wrench you made for blade removal. And I don't own a Great Dane so can you show me what you had to work with on the oil drain(where you were to drain before and after the improement)? Thanks in advance slammed

I am 76 and not getting any younger. I have taken some photos and will take some more, but I had a bad fall last night and am not doing too good today. No broken bones, but several scrapes and scratches.

This first attached photo shows the height adjustment change I made. It originally had several holes for a pin. The pin was difficult to pull out and re-position. I made the plate and the dog to fit into the notches in the plate. The lever can easily raise the deck or lower it to a different height on the go. I did the change without drilling or welding anything onto the mower except for one hole in the lever. That was one of the best changes I made.

The 2nd photo is the buggy top shade I made. The fabric is a vinyl with nylon threads imbedded in the fabric and is nearly indestructible. It is made for school bus seats so kids cannot tear it up.
It folds back when I hit a tree limb or something solid, which happens very often. It can easily be folded all the way down if necessary. It is lined underneath the vinyl with aluminum foil glued in with contact cement and is as cool as a straw hat. In our part of the country, 115 degree summer temps are the normal and with the shade, mowing is best at mid-day. When the sun is very low, it doesn't do any good, but it is not needed then anyway. With the shade, mowing is a joy.
