I recently purchased a Woods "Mow N Machine 2855" it has a 2 cylinder opposed Kohler engine and it looks as if that size and brand of mower all cam with Kohler Magnum M18 engines.

My problem is that the sticker that contains the Serial number and Model number of the engine is worn so badly, I can't read any numbers and the local shop won't look up any parts without the numbers. Does Kohler stamp numbers into the block anywhere?

Any help would be appreciated.

The faded sticker is a very common problem with Kohler. Can you post a picture of the engine, and somebody may be able to id the engine, at least model number, spec number may be hard to come up with if not impossible.

Woods was a division of the Hesston corporation. Here is an address for them.

WOODS DIVISION OF HESSTON CORP
401 COMMERCIAL
MOUNT CARROLL, IL 61053
EPA Registry Id: 110001824722

If you have the model and serial numbers of the unit, you might be able to contact them and they may be able to cross reference the engine for you. Best I can help.
