Does anyone know the difference between a mulching blade and a standard blade??

If you look on the ends of the standard blade you will notice just a straight blade that is just good for cutting and throwing the grass out the chute. A mulching blade has a sharp tip on the ends of the blade but the blade is shaped up from that sharp edge with another sharp edge. This part of the sharp blade chops the grass that just is getting cut with the regular edge. The grass is thrown up and the blade cuts the grass repeatedly until it makes its way to the ground after it is circulated in the deck (provided you have a mulching kit attached).

Mulching blades have more lift as well. If you live where the yards are sandy, using mulching blades will wear you deck out a lot sooner with all the sand they pick up. They also slow the rpm of the blade tip because they create more drag with having the higher lift blade.

I have gone to a low lift blade and after trying them I will use nothing else where I live.
