I have a Toro Super Bagger Model 20197. It just started shutting off when I remove the bag to empty it. I released the bail handle and the blade stops turning and the motor keeps running which is what it is supposed to do. As soon as I take the bag off to empty the motor shuts off. It normally always kept running. Is there a switch I need to clean, or something else I can do to fix it?

Hi Rivets. Reason I purchased this lawnmower was because of the electric clutch feature for the blade. The motor is suppose to keep running when the bail handle is released and the blade isn’t turning. I don’t know how you were able to operate it the way you have in the passed, but if there is no lever in the top switch channel the engine and unit is designed to stop. See page 6 of the manual I posted. This is a safety feature, not much more I can tell you.
