The stamped-steel mufflers used under the deck on later model Lawnboy 2-cycle mowers. I have seen factory replacements that come painted. I was wondering, in restoration, after one cleans up one of these mufflers, if they should be painted on the exterior surface. Wouldn't they get hot enough to just burn off the paint fairly rapidly, or would engine enamel be tough enough to work?

They make high temp paint but I would think it would be something you would have to keep after.

My F engines from the 80's still have paint on them.
