Hello everyone. I'm a newbie to your excellent forum, but I do a lot of reading and searching on these pages and really enjoy your site.

My L111 is about 8 years old and has become difficult to start. To do so takes a monumentally strong push on the brake/clutch pedal on the left. So hard that my wife can not start it these days --- and she considers it --- her mower. I do my mowing on an old Ford 1710 tractor with finish mower.

What adjustments can I effect to make it easier to start? Can a switch be moved closer to its activation point? Since I can start it and she can not --- something seems to have shifted or stretched. I would appreciate your thoughts and ideas and thanks for all you do for the Deere community.

You can possibly lubricate the joints but there really isn't an adjustment for the pedal or moving the switch....just make sure the seat is close enough that she can reach without stretching. ...

Hey Pile --

Thanks for the response. But did you mean to lubricate my wife's joints --- with say ... Glucosamine/Chondroitin ---- or to lube the Deere L111?

Just kidding --- and I'll put some grease on them --- along with the cable and take out any slack I can find. One of the belts on the deck is
loose, too --- so may an adjustment there would help with the major issue.

Again -- thanks ---

Carscw --

You're right about racing -- but I still like some of the one-ball sports, too.

And please help me on this -- I'm not sure where the switch is located and
how many wires it has coming from it.

Any and all help is appreciated.

the brake switch its under the battery kind on the left side if you're sitting on the mower, however this is a snap in switch that really can't move, the bracket coukd bent but typically that causes the switch to not get contacted. No contact on the switch it don't start at all no matter how much you push the pedal......

You have to push down harder so the pedal can
reach the switch. The bracket has bent or a tab has broke off the switch

One final question --- or --- at least I hope it's the last one on this topic:

Can I bypass the switch in question --- as someone did on my seat cutoff
switch? And if so --- would one be advised to do so --- would it be dangerous
or result in improper operation>

Again -- Thanks --- Randy

You can bypass the switch.

The safety part was the seat switch
