overhaulin my engine, was using about a pint of oil every two hours of use. crankcase breather was clean and new airfilter. i figured must be rings???? cant seem to find anything real bad. engine is extremely clean inside. anyone have idea what to look for. valves and guides are also tight

no external leaks just uses a lot of oil and smokes out the exhaust real bad. the only thing i found after i got it taken apart is the oil rings on both pistons seem to be collasped. they dont expand out like the compression rings. both pistons have alot of carbon build up on top.

My kohler had an intake leak and was causing the cylinder temp to run to high ,that is why it was using oil.chech intake for cracks and use liquid sealer on gaskets,watch for white or oily plugs.

Look at your head gasket real close. I would bet that it was blown right where the push rods go thru the head.
