I installed a new lawn mower rope, but the new rope will not come out maybe a foot. I rewound the coil spring before installing the rope. Did I rewind the spring too much or what else did I do wrong?

When I replace a rope, I wind the pulley all the way until it stops and then unwind the pulley at least one turn so in the event you pull the rope all the way out you will not harm the spring.

How long of a rope did you start with?

You didn't mention the engine make...
But this youtube covers the typical (newer B&S engine)... : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDfKXLoj1hM
THis covers most of the techniques, but if this is not your engine, look for other video clips... There is bound to be one that covers your exact engine.... :smile:KennyV
