I’ve replaced the two be,ts with John Deere belts. When I went to adjust them the spring was completely loose, nut was tight and I’m at a loss what to do except put washers behind spring so it will tighten up enough to allow it to give the belts the correct 3/4” slack. Any thoughts?

Is there a bracket the spring and PTO cable go into? If so, there should be two bolts you can loosen and adjust to achieve more spring tension which will increase belt tension.

I’ll check and let you know. I appreciate your response to my question.

It seems the bracket is welded to the frame and it can’t be moved.
