Engines runs a few minutes than stalls

Im working on a 4h.p. briggs
model: 10A902
type: 2189 B2

problem: engine runs a few minutes than stalls

list of things I've done so far
1. switched out coil with coil I know is good
2. cleaned carb and installed new diaphragm kit
3. flushed out gas tank
4. cleaned air filter
5. checked compression (cold) 80 psi.

Have you checked the valve clearances?

changed out carb and mower stays running:confused2:
not sure whats bad with carb (noticed primer is real weak compared to good carb)
might throw a carb rebuild kit in it and see what happens
keeping fingers crossed!:laughing:
will inform if problem returns

thanks for the tip on valve clearance (will keep that in mind)

note:
my avatar pic is my son-in-laws mower he was having a hard time starting it, I put a new carb gasket and primer bulb in it and it starts fine.
I decided to pull the recoil and look for any issues (glad I did) the debris was actually starting to burn at the muffler.

It pays to check under the hood every now and then

todays report:
cleaned bad carb with gunk carb cleaner spray, disassembled primer bulb sprayed through check valve passage, sprayed all passages.
cleaned gas tank with carb cleaner let soak for 1hr.
bought briggs carb kit #5083 (contains diaphragm and gasket, main pickup screen, and diaphragm spring.)

re-assembled everything and installed
first thing I noticed was primer worked much better, engine fired up on first pull, was a little hesitant at first but cleared out and ran fine.
also noticed gas seepage on tank, snugged carb screws some no help, put double gaskets on it, leak stopped.

starts on first pull, runs fine and hasn't stalled once.

LIFE IS GOOD!!:thumbsup:
