Have you guys ever heard of this method of machining a radial cut from the center to the edge? I saw it someplace but can't recall where now. I believe the guy cut it with a drill going laterally. Seems they cut the channel in the head to increase power and efficiency. Any ideas on this? Has anyone done it?

Ive seen something like this, you do it in the top of the head, so as to create groves so when the sparkplug lights, it has little "channels of fire" to increase burn. I think you'd be more likely to break something....I think it was in hotrod magizine....it did work...but i would just change out the piston....

Send the piston off to be coated as well as the head.
It will retain combustion heat in the chamber to be used as power.
The sides of the piston can also be coated for lubricity.
The grooving has been done on valves, ports etc..
Don't think it's shown anything more than anecdotal evidence though.
Piston and chamber coating has consistently shown %10+ increase in power however.
