I have an older Broadmoor 20HP (1694632). Not sure of year.
When I release the brake, it sounds/feels like something is loose. It is making more noise than normal, like something loosely spinning. It will drive forward and back but doesn't feel right. I moved it from one side of the yard to the garage and it smelled like burning rubber and there was a little smoke.
When I look underneath - I see the plug for the clutch hanging precariously close to the mower deck belt.
Photos are with the brake released.
Not sure how to test it since it sounds and seems fine when the brake is set.
Is this a belt or drive tension issue? What should I check out?
Sorry for the awful description... but not sure how else to describe it. I'm not afraid to get under it and check stuff out. I opened up the transmission last year (after it started slipping) and replaced the transaxle shaft and it had been working great after that.
