You can use a ford one if you want to.

Is yours a 3 prong or a 4 prong.

It is a 4 pole that I had from a craftman tractor. The b and s is new .I just got it running and mowed for 1/2 hour and it cut out.started it again and died.

You can use any 4 pole or a 3 pole.

On the 4 one is just a ground.

Why it is shutting down is something else.

Since it shut down I didn't get anything. Did a voltage check. Was not getting a read at starter side of solenoid. I thought it cut out because the fuel solenoid wire is connected to same side.am I right? I'll get new solenoid and go from there.thanks

The fuel solenoid should not be on the same wire as the starter.

The starter only gets power when the key is turned to start.
The fuel solenoid needs power when the key is on run.

actually the fuel solenoid needs 12v at both the crank and run positions.

I put new solenoid in and it ran again for 20 min and died. I must be frying solenoid.
