B&S wrong carburetor

Hi,I bought the wrong carb.It's for a b&s 6.5hp {123k02-0258-e1}It runs great but very hard to start.It has the primer bulb-the carb has a choke.Any way to make it work?

Do you mean the new carb has a primer and the old carb has a choke. or vise versa?

Thanks for answering.The new carb has the choke,the primer is not part of the carb but is behind the air filter plate.

If new carb has a choke then hook up a choke cable. Go slay some grass.

I had a situation similar to this. I put a carb that needed a choke cable onto a 6.5 hp Briggs. I changed the backside of the air filter box to one that has the primer built into it. Seems like it helped it start. Or am I hallucinating? Is the internal venting and such on a choke style carb such that a primer would work on it. I know have not included any model or part numbers but I sold the mower after replacing the air box and do not have access to any model number detail. Just asking a general question. Thanks
