Invalid Serial Number. There is no month 63.

Post image of the tag as something is being mis-read.

Ok I am Back, I recheck my Briggs Straton model number and I was wrong !
The model is 10T802 and the Type is 1130 B1 and the Code is 08031354
I did hone my cylinder to removed the scratches and now my bore at the top is 2.563 inch and bottom is 2.56155 inch.
I check and the Cylinder Factory Bore spec are 2.5625 to 2.5615.
My Piston is N/A so I have to reuse it and it measure it, 2.543 inch at the top and 2.5595 inch at the bottom skirt.
I cannot find if the the piston clearance and if it will be a problem ?
Also. what is the new Rings clearance that have to make on the new .020 oversize that I have order?

I check them all and every number are N/A.
I received a email to day that the part I order the other day is B/O !!
Is there a aftermarket ring that would fit even a .010 oversize may work ??
Thank you

Briggs and Stratton is not the same company after they filed bankruptcy. And the engine your are working is 15yrs old so parts are likely NLA permanently. I now having to kill off engines that newer then this because parts are going NLA faster. As the OS piston and rings are already listed NLA.

And beginning to see a lot other OEMs not providing OS piston and rings now too.

It appears that you are going to have to call it a lost cause and except that you wasted your time and money. Chalk it to a learning experience.

Not all that long ago a piston catalogue would state the pin to crown height, the head type , ring sizes , bore & overall shape
The up side of this is it is easy to find any piston
The down side is it did not tell you what the piston fitted .

The engine makers do not wan you to know this as that allows you to get a piston directly from the piston maker & not the engine maker.
So some sort of underhanded deal was struck and now pistons are only listed according to the end use.
So there could be 2000 pistons that you could use but you can not find them .
On top of that the cost of mower engine plumited to the point that from the mid 60's it was easier to replace the engine than to repair it
So a 10T engine is approximately 164cc ( 10 cu "≈ 164cc )
So you need to take your piston to a real engineering store and ask for piston + 20 on your one.
If you are lucky they will still have the old paper catalogues that you can thumb through.
A lot of mucking around
Or you can go to a bespoke piston maker & get one made
Now days with tripple bottom lines , no parts company is going to want their staff Taking a 1/2 ( or longer ) to find you a piston on which they will be lucky to make $ 5.00
But I could guarantee there will be a motorcycle piston that will fit or can be machined to fit .
I have a bike that has a VW piston in it, valved turned down for a Deutz diesel and so many odd parts it is not funny .
But it has taken years to find what will fit with minimal machining.

Your, right, they are asking us to stop polluting the planet but scrapping a lawn mower for a small part N/A is OK!!
I will continue to search but if you find a replacement for my rings or a piston assembly I will be here.

Thank you for your help.
