In previous years we have buried a cooler in the snow and used that for continued use so we didn't have to keep opening and closing the fridge. I will say last time was 3 days without power and all we lost was a mouthful of chocolate milk. I wrapped the fridge and freezer with heavy blankets to keep them insulated and didn't open them much at all.
