New engine seems in a bind

Well, I've just finished installing a new V-twin CT series engine, 27 horse on a mower, but the starter seems to bind up trying to turn the crank over for the first time. Is this normal? Everything appears to be wired correctly, and the switch is functioning as it should, the starter just...

Newer troy built push mower gov searching

I got a little push mower about 3 years back from Lowes, it's a Troy Built, model ? . I bought it because it had the little Honda engine on it, which I felt like would be the best bet for longevity. Last 2 years it's worked great, had the pull back spring choke that closes itself off after a...

Kohler harness to briggs engine wiring how-to?

Ok, now's where I need my hero's to help me. I have decided to stick with a briggs commercial turf series engine for an an engine swap from a kohler command. Problem is I don't know exactly what to wire where. The mower it is going on is an early model Husqvarna 6127 which has some...

Briggs choke-a-matic on mower with manual choke setup

What's the best option if I were to order an engine that has the choke-a-matic setup already, but my mower is manual choke currently. Can I just adjust the length of pull for my throttle cable somehow, and do away with the manual choke cable. I'd rather not disassemble the new engine just to...

Anyone know if Kohler 7000 mounting pattern matches Command series?

Was curious if the 7000 series engine would match the bolt pattern to one of the command engines without any re-drilling. The command line uses a 10.00" B.C uneven space hole pattern, but I can't find the 7000 series breakdown. Thanks!

    Kohler CV740 27hp command won't start.

I have been working on an older Command CV740 27 hp engine on a ZTR trying to figure out what's wrong with it. It ran last year but with a little valve noise. Has been maintained as far as I know. This year, it turns over, but won't start. I have already been through a few checks to try and...

ZTH 6127 info needed, engine, etc.

Well hello again folks, been a bit for me here. I wanted to ask a few questions from you professionals who run Husqvarna equipment. A family member recently ordered a new mower (Ferris) after having some engine troubles with his Husqvarna 6127. He claims it turns over, which i verified, but...

    Scag Liberty bagger knock-off options?

I remember looking at baggers a while back when I bought my Freedom Z and I know they were pricey but I recently checked again and they are about 1200 bucks, which to me just seems crazy. I have a friend who recently picked up a Liberty Z and really wants to add the bagger, but for the cost of...

89 John Deere 285 hydro bypass won't work

I have owned this mower for a while, and known well this is an issue, but i've never investigated. Anyone know why the neutral switch that dis-engages the hydro drive wouldn't work when moved. It seems like it has no resistance at all, it just moves, but never hits Neutral. Not a huge issue...

Walk-behind String vs brush cutter, reviews needed

So, we own about 20 acres of land of which 5 or more needs to be kept clear each year. At least 1 acre of this is down by a creek and in somewhat marshy conditions which allows for quick growth and lots of random weeds and plants to take root. While I don't have to keep this acre totally...

Predator Engines any count, from Harbor Freight?

I have dome some loose reading on these Predator engine replacements for things like tillers and the like, just wondered if anyone here had some hands on experience. I have been eyeballing that 5500 watt generator too, and it was on sale last week, but i missed it, marked down to about 350...

looking for 1st ZTR, heavily leaning on the Liberty Z

Any advice on SCAG, what to buy, what not to, how it mows, how it lasts, etc.. I remember seeing SCAG in my area years ago, but never close.. We have a dealer about 30 minutes from here, and the SCAG makes my top 3 list right now compared to the Gravely HD and the Dixie Chopper Magnum. I'm...

    How are the 2015 models?

Anyone have first hand experience with the DC's from this year. I am considering them over the Gravely and maybe Scag unit's which seem to score highest in overall build quality and cut quality, according to those I personally know who use them. I am focusing on the Magnum or Magnum HP models...
