I've just taken up painting again. I used to paint in oils years ago and I've decided to try these new acrylic paints. It's very relaxing especially on days when it's too cold or wet to get outside.

There is a man who lives a few villages away from me who takes in old lawnmowers, petrol and electric, and refurbishes them. He then sells them on. Would you trust a lawnmower like this to last?

We had a couple of dove chicks hatch in a nest in our garden a couple of weeks ago but this morning I watched as their mother pushed their dead bodies out of the nest. So sad! I think they must have been too early.

I've just seen this on the web. It seems that an American man has done 96 MPH on a "104+" custom built ride on mower across the salt flats in Utah. This breaks the record held by a British man of 87 MPH. Cool, eh?

I have discovered a load of brambles at the bottom of my back garden. At the moment they are beyond the lawn, behind a wooden fence in a fairly neglected part of the garden but, if I leave them, they will eventually encroach on the lawn. What's the best way to kill them?

I built a patio with paving slabs and my pathways around the lawns are also paving slabs. My sister has just had her lawn dug up and covered the whole area with blue slate! She didn't tell me until after she did it and I can understand why she did it as pushing a mower is hard for her at her age but I'd rather have a lovely lush green garden outside my window than an ugly blue slate...
