Thank you for your response. While tracing the pto I quite by accident discovered that the problem is that the parking brake is not fully engaging. Something got bent or moved in the sudden stoppage.

I shut the PTO off right after the engine shut off. But thanks and I'll get the diagram. I'm a retired carpenter by trade. If it was wood I'd have half a chance.

The key turned. No motor. I checked the fuses, the belt, the battery. No issues.

So I ran over a rope and bound up the blades. The motor cut off immediately. I cleared the rope but it will not start. I checked the fuses, battery, belts. All fine. I don't know how to verify if the parking brake is properly engaged beyond that, I'm stuck.
