I have a kohler twin not sure the exact model but it is on an older scag 52in hydro walk behind with electric start. I just replaced the regulator because the b+ lead was not producing any voltage. I put a new voltage regulator part 41 403 09 after market for 15 dollars. After replacing it, the new voltage regulator outputs -3.1vdc on the b+ pin to engine ground. I checked the stator output and it is 33vac and there are no shorts to ground from the stator coils. I also checked and regrounded the regulator to the engine and it did not improve. What do I do next?

Are you getting battery voltage to the B+ terminal of the regulator. Voltage below something like 10 volts at the terminal will prevent the regulator from turning on.

I am getting battery voltage at the terminal its is about 12.4 volts. I have tried it with the b+ terminal disconnected and the mower running. I will try it again tomorrow with a fresh battery and the b+ wire connected to the reg.
