Strange starting problem

I'm flumoxed by a Toro Recycler mower with electric start. The mower is well tuned and starts on the first pull. When I use the electric start the over turns over like it should but does not start. I put a spark tester on it and do not get spark when I try the electric start. The spark is great if I pull start it. I haven't seen this problem before. Any ideas? Thanks

Forgot to follow up on this. A new battery solved the problem.
