Rods

Hello folks,
I have a B&S 33R777, 18.5hp. Quit, found a 1in piece broken off the end of the intake rod, which in turn, bent the metal plate the plastic "guides" are on. Having a hell of a time setting these rods internally, rods don't move on rotation....maybe plate preventing alignment? Maybe engine no good? Drained oil,nothing,clean.

I suspect that you are missing the end of the valve tappet because it is in the raised position. When the push rod dislodges it over pushes the valve tappet up and then sometimes sticks in that position.
