OK---I am just dying to ask this question because I know many people put up their tree the day after Thanksgiving----do you go with an artificial tree or a real tree?? Pros and cons with each of course.

A real tree is expensive. Difficult to carry inside the home. After Christmas leaves dry and fall and make home look dirty. But a real tree outside home is best. Just put decor on it.

Artificial one is cheaper and easier to manage. After Christmas you put it all in a box. In 11 months you use again. But you use it inside home only. Not outside.

I agree ... Plant a tree outside.... Use an artificial one inside, LOTS easier... :smile:KennyV

We spend all year planting and pruning and caring for our trees, so it seems a bit odd to chop one down at Christmas. We string lights in one outside, but use an artificial one inside. December 1st is when we set it up, around New Year's is when we take it down.

We've always had a white artificial tree. Live ones dry out too fast and cause a fire hazard, and I honestly just do not think they're as pretty as an artificial tree. Ours is eight feet high and sits on a merry-go-round kind of deal.

We have a pine outside to decorate! Inside, we used to buy, then grew our own. After a few dry years, the trees were a safety hazard inside (fire danger, I spent 29 years as a firefighter), I convinced the wife to get whatever artificial tree she liked. Used it every since! ~~ grnspot110

Yes. Leaves from real tree are a fire hazard inside the house. Very dangerous. Kids like to play a lot. One mistake with matches can burn the whole house down. That's no good for a New Year.
