My Kohler CV493, 18hp, is on a 2004 Simplicity Zero-Turn, Model 1694454, which I purchased new. For the first
time and during my last mowing, the engine suddenly shut down while mowing, between every 2 - 4 minutes. It
re-started after every occasion, but only after waiting a few moments. There were no signals of an upcoming shut-
down...in each instance it was abrupt. Before this mowing I had changed oil, lubed, cleaned under the deck and
removed and sharpened the three blades. Surely, none of this played any part in the "all of a sudden" strange
behaviour. I'd greatly appreciate any thoughts as to what's going on with my Kohler engine/Simplicity mower. Larry

As soon as the engine dies, turn the key off and back on several times and listen for the click of the fuel solenoid on the carb. No click then the solenoid is shutting down and will need replaced. I have seen cases on Kohler where it would shut down and by the time you could turn the key back on the third time it would start working again.

Many thanks, Ilengine! I'll give that a try and let the forum know the results. Larry

Very interesting! I had the occasion to mow my two lots again yesterday and, strange as it seems, it ran like a charm...never stopped running once! I was
prepared to take the action recommended by Ilengine, but that wasn't necessary. Is it logical to have the fuel solenoid act up one day and the next not? Looks
like I have to wait and see what happens next time!? Larry
