Hi Everyone,

I have a PowerBoss 7kW with GX390 portable generator. Between the fuel tank and engine is a sheet metal tray with a piece of insulation on top of the tray. Squirrels used the insulation for their home and I need to replace it. The PowerBoss "Insulation Kit" (p/n 194448GS) is no longer available from PowerBoss or vendors.

I want to buy a generic replacement and cut it to size. I'm having trouble finding the replacement. Part of the trouble is, I don't know the specs. I assume the insulation is a heat barrier because it is placed in between the gas tank and engine. I'm thinking something like https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01I3C64ZQ or https://www.walmart.com/ip/170445913 (and maybe https://www.amazon.com/dp/B084RGYM7S).

I hope someone has come across the stuff in their travels.

Could someone provide a recommendation and source, please?

Thanks in advance.

Measure the gap between the heatshield and the tank to get an idea for the thickness. I would then just go to the local hardware store and pick up some bulk insulation. Cut and glue it in place. Done-zo!
