I was looking at some lawn & garden tractors & was told that Husqvarna was stopping production of them . One dealer said that they would continue to made by MTD . Is this true ?

OOPs, please move to Husqvarna forum.

Husqvarna announced in 2018 starting with the 2019 year they would be discontinuing their lower end products such as push, riding and garden tractors and focus on their higher end Z turn, and Husqvarna hand held products. And Briggs bankruptcy did even more damage to Husqvarna due to the engine shortage leading to lower than expected availability.

MTD wasn't making the husqvarna mowers but one of husqvarna largest customers was Sears Craftsman which is now owned by Black and Decker, which also acquired full ownership of MTD just this past year.

Back in he 50's the BSA group was the world's largest motorcycle manufacturer making 30% of the worlds motorcycles over100cc and just like Husqvarna their production methods were antiquated so they abandoned the bottom end of the market ( small commuter bikes ) in favour of the more profitable large touring & sports bikes.
Within 10 years the company was bankrupt and closed down because the management was so divorced from their market they had no idea about introductory brands and brand loyality.
It looks like Husqvarnas management is just as divorced from their garden tool market which is reinforced by that idiot tool less blade changing system .
The big question is if they are going to close the AYP factories and stop production of other brands or to continue to make other brands and stop painting any of them orange .
I would expect that what Husqvarna will end up doing is importing all of the bottom end stuff from China .
Down here we get a few Chinese made Husqvarna ride on clones powered by Chinese made Kohler Courage engines .
It is a sad enditement to Husqvarna that the Chinese Clones are actually better than the genuine product and less than 1/2 the price retailing at just under $ 2000 Aus and for a comparison the 3 speed Honda push mower retails for $ 1800 Aus
