Hi, so my lawn mower which I believe is an HRX series and is about 10 years old has an issue where I push the yellow blade control lever down to engage the blade and it turns on fine but at random while mowing it will disengage all by itself without me releasing it. Other times it will disengage immediately after releasing the blade control lever and I have to push it down multiple times for the blade to even remain spinning only to disengage shortly after. I can only get a good mow by holding the blade control lever down the whole time while mowing.

I have to hold the blade control lever down while I use mine, as well. If you don't hold it down, it pops back up and the blade ceases turning, as designed. So what is the problem?

Try correctly adjusting the cable. They do stretch, that is why they make them adjustable.

Follow attached instructions. If that doesn't resolve the issue, I will need your mower VIN to research further.
